Online Research Lecture Program

The CIS Online Research Lecture program is a 15-week lecture program delivered by esteemed university professors and experienced academic writing instructors to ensure that students are well-prepared for their research success in the CIS Summer Research Camp. Between March and May, we provide a wide selection of three hundred research topics across major academic disciplines. The program was originally launched in 2017 in our pursuit of delivering research-based learning to more students without geographic limitations.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE ONLINE RESEARCH LECTURE

The CIS Online Research Lecture program is a 15-week online lecture program that combines the professor-led core research content, academic writing development, and instructor-led academic guidance sessions. The lecture program's goal is to foster students' research capabilities, develop subject knowledge, and be well-prepared for the later in-person research programs.

The Research Lecture program is designed to follow the same structure and academic standards of world-class universities. The program is also a selection process to help our professors measure students' research readiness and identify qualified students to attend their follow-on, in-person summer research programs.

Besides the lecture program content, our students are also provided with other resources and tools to ensure their program success. These include our online program preparation courses, Python learning platform, online research collaboration software, and additional instructor office hours.

A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE

THE NEXT-GENERATION EDUCATION IS ONLINE

We have a simple but ambitious goal: to bring research-based learning to more students in more regions. To achieve that, we are focusing on the online education delivery model. Our online research programs are conducted via Zoom. To better coordinate the joint research writing efforts between students and professors, we have also adopted Overleaf for writing and editing collaborations.

Another key aspect of our online delivery model is the NeoSchool digital learning system. Similar to Blackboard for College students, NeoSchool has a set of features that enhance the online learning experience.

Covers the entire research-based learning process and offers automated online training on the fundamentals.

COMMUNICATION HUB

Builds a learning ecosystem by enabling easy online interactions and discussions among students, professors, and TA's.

FEEDBACK SYSTEM

Creates a platform for real-time feedback and comments from professors on students' knowledge and research projects.
